Scouting the Gordano Way
Scouting in Gordano is FUN. Scouting happens regularly, is available to ALL, offering high quality balanced programmes, in a safe, challenging, stimulating and supportive environment, enjoyed by everyone involved.
To further develop and strengthen quality Scouting for the young people in Gordano. In tandem to ensure there are robust support mechanisms for Leaders, a sense of community where views are sought listened to and acted upon. A district programme of events will be arranged to further support Scouting locally and to help to ensure all those involved locally enjoy their Scouting.
v Scouting is for young people and that’s our focus, to provide a safe and balanced programme meeting the Scouting ethos and enjoyed by those participating
v Scouting is a hobby, adults’ involved need to enjoy their role, and we need to recognise the level of commitment individuals can provide.
v The role of the District is to provide direction and support to Groups and the leaders / helpers / volunteers involved, so promoting Scouting in the local area.
v The District Team will in liaison with Section Leaders arrange a number of events to further develop and challenge the young people involved in Scouting in Gordano.
v Adult training and development to be completed as per the movements requirements. Training is seen as a positive activity to help develop the leadership within Scouting. Leaders skills development will be provided within the District to help improve the quality of Scouting to young people.
v Fellowship will be encouraged to support the events with the young people. In addition this group is to continue to arrange and look to expand upon activity and social events for Adults involved in Scouting.
v Glenny Wood to be retained as a traditional campsite. The activities facilities available on the site to be developed to help attract more users from the District.
