DISTRICT TRAINING

ADC General Duties — Leadership development

Training Advisors    Angela Andrews Brian Andrews Tony Cryer Ann Parker Phil Woolcock  Simon Ham or please contact your Group Scout Leader

These volunteers are here to help and advise you with your training needs. As you know, the Training System has changed, in that everything is now in modular form. If you are part way through training, do not despair. We will convert the old system to the new so there will be no need to start again.

You simply need to carry on where you left off previously. Please get in touch with one of us so that we do not run the risk of losing you at your next warrant review!

As you can imagine, with eleven Groups and seven Explorer Units, it is difficult to maintain a high profile with all the trainees (new adults plus existing adults all under training), so if you feel you can help us by being a TA, please let one of us know.

 GENERAL INFORMATION.

All new adults should be in possession of the Module One Video called Essential Information. Please watch this as soon as possible after your interview. You will be allocated a TA who will assist you, like a mentor, through your training. Please return the video to your TA when you are fully conversant with its contents. When you are ready, your TA will go through your Personal Training Plan with you and the wheels can then be set in motion.

From the date of your interview you will have 5 months to complete the first three modules. Once completed you have 2 years and 7 months (3 years total), to complete the required 18 modules necessary for obtaining your Woodbadge. Your training requirements are the fulfilled, so you simply have to accrue 5 hours of continuous development per year. This is easily achieved, especially if you contact your TA for guidance.

Please do not let the thought of training detract you from becoming a warranted leader. The total number of hours required to become fully trained, is very small. It amounts to five 8 hour days plus one week end, all in a three year period, so you can see it is very little.
